Art Chicago 2010 will feature 27 works of large-scale sculpture displayed in interior and exterior public spaces of the Merchandise Mart. The public sculpture exhibition is organized in conjunction with not-for-profit organization Chicago Sculpture International (CSI).
“We are very pleased to be able to activate the inside and outside of the Merchandise Mart with such remarkable international and local art,” says Art Chicago vice president Tony Karman. “The range and scale of the works adds an impressive dimension to the experience of visiting the fair. We’re also thrilled to present the work of Chicago sculptors in such a public setting, as it underscores Art Chicago’s broad commitment to sculpture and to the city’s artistic community.”
The indoor part of the exhibition will include 15 large-scale works by Rodney Graham, Kiki Smith, Dzine, Tony Tasset and Dietrich Klinge, among others. The outdoor section, titled “Countercurrents,” will feature 12 works by CSI members presented along the length of Lower Orleans Street, next to Merchandise Mart.
